A few of us got out Friday afternoon (in between rain storms) to check out conditions on Evolution. Most of the new work is settling in nicely, but there's a few really soft spots still. We also threw a bunch more dirt on one of the berms up top. With more rain in the forecast we decided to close the trail down for a few days. Let it drain, firm back up, and then it'll be ready to rip. Please respect the temporary closure.
Thanks, Hawk

Evo is awesome. Thanks for roping it off, I'd rather try to preserve it's beauty for a while longer. I rode it on thursday and it was perfect. I kept my Ride to Slide ratio >1:0, so hopefully it didn't harm the trail.

Thanks to everyone that's refraining from riding Evo right now. With all the rain and the brand new dirt, it goes a long way towards letting it settle in. The two dudes that came out of Evo on Saturday got a lil' piece of my mind.

Is there tape on both entrances to the trail, or what?

There's caution tape at the entrance and a trail closed sign. These guys EB saw most likely ignored it.

Heading up later this week to check out conditions. Forecast looks to be improving so that will help.

Baker opens Thursday...

I spoke w/ a buddy that rode evo with another friend of his the other day. I mentioned the trail "should've been closed". He came up from the Wonderland side and said he didn't see any trail closed markers.
Disappointing indeed because the guy he was with was in attendance on the build day

Yeah, that entrance should get flagged as well.  The main entrance is only flaged right now.  Hawka dn I are going up tonight.....maybe we'll do that as well.  The dudes I saw on Saturday didn't say a word when I mentioned the flagging and sign, so I'm guessing they just went around it.  If they had said "we came in from wonderland/sandy stone", then my tone would've changed.

Oh, you'd know right away who it was if you ran into the guy I'm talkin' about. You'd be like, "Dude...! Reeeally???"

Went and checked out conditions on Wednesday. The weather was pretty good so there were some riders out, but the trails were super wet due to heavy rains earlier in the week.
There were less than a dozen or so tire tracks causing ruts in the soft dirt on Evolution so it looks like most people are respecting the temporary closure. However, each time someone rides it in these wet conditions, small ruts form, which trap rain water, which keep it soft, and then another set of tires comes thru, deeper ruts start to show, more trapped water, more mushy dirt...it's a cycle that gets exponentially worse the more traffic it sees in wet conditions. November is typically the wettest month of the year so it's going to stay closed for a bit longer.
I put up some more caution tape at various spots at the top of the trail so no one can say they didn't see it or didn't know. Give it some time. It'll be worth the wait.
Cheers

So basically it'll be closed until it dries out in August, reopened, thrashed and closed next October? (kidding...  With this chit weather I have to keep myself entertained)
